Ian Astbury, born 14 May 1962, is best known as the founding member, lead vocalist, and frontman of the legendary rock band The Cult. During breaks from The Cult, Astbury also fronted the short-lived Holy Barbarians in 1996, and later from 2002 to 2007, he served as the lead singer of Riders on the Storm, a Doors tribute band featuring original members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger. Additionally, he has made guest vocal appearances on various artists' songs and even replaced Rob Tyner during an MC5 reunion in 2003.
